The Governing Body makes sure that the CCG runs effectively, efficiently, economically and with good governance.
It exists to serve patients, give confidence to the public, support clinicians and is accountable to NHS England.
Chairman, GP Stowmarket
Dr Mark Shenton, a GP at StowHealth in Stowmarket, has been appointed as chairman to the Governing Body of Ipswich and East Suffolk CCG. He is a member of the Governing Body and Clinical Executive and is the clinical lead for ensuring high quality services, a thread through all of our QIPP programmes.
Dr Shenton has been involved with practice-based commissioning since 2005, which has given him a valuable insight into the process of commissioning services which meet the needs of local people. He also has experience of working at both Ipswich and West Suffolk Hospitals.
He is married with four children.
