IESCCG Winter Schemes

As the weather is forecast to turn colder, the CCG has produced a summary of all of the IESCCG winter schemes which are designed to reduce avoidable emergency admissions.  Each scheme includes an overview and referral/contact information. 
 
Preparations for industrial action by junior doctors

New phone number for Smartcard issues

Crisis Action Team (CAT) launch
17 November 2015
As from Monday 16 November 2015 the Crisis Action Team (CAT) commenced across Ipswich and east Suffolk. This is a 24/7, multi-agency health, social care and voluntary sector admission avoidance service. It is a six month pilot service which will run until April 2016.  
 
Community Reablement Beds Pilot Scheme
09 November 2015
To support the health system in winter 2015/16, the CCG have commissioned a number of community reablement beds as part of a six-month admission avoidance pilot.  The focus for the beds will be on providing short-term ‘step up’ and ‘step across’ reablement care for patients in a community based setting and the phased implementation of the beds begins on Monday 9 November 2015.

There are significant changes happening behind the scenes to make sure that you receive high quality IT support services. This is because NEL has been awarded the contract to manage and run the equipment and computers that you use for your day to day job. Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust, the former contract holder, is working with NEL to make sure systems and processes operate as smoothly as possible. 
 
First Time Heating Fund

Suffolk’s Warm Homes Healthy People project has secured £1.6 million from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to help 270 vulnerable people across Suffolk with fully funded first time central heating, to help keep them warmer and healthier.

Frailty Assessment Base (FAB)

The Frailty Assessment Base (FAB) is located at Ipswich Hospital and provides multidisciplinary advice and assessment for frail older people. This is a new service staffed by senior consultants, therapists, nurses, pharmacists and dieticians. It provides Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment for frail older patients at risk of acute admission.
 
NHS NEL Commissioning Support Unit (NEL CSU)

The preferred bidder has been announced to deliver IT services to GP practices and community health providers in east and west Suffolk and the NHS Ipswich and East Suffolk and NHS West Suffolk clinical commissioning groups (the CCGs).

Drug Alert: "Mocarz"

Health Warning regarding the use of Legal High Brand “MOCARZ” 
Norfolk Drug & Alcohol Partnership (N-DAP) have received notification of an outbreak of serious intoxications in Poland associated with a legal high called ‘Mocarz’ 
According to reports more than 200 individuals have been hospitalised in the past few days. No results from lab analysis are available at present but media reports are suggesting that the brand contains a SCRA.
 
Cycle the CCG!

IESCCG are seeking volunteers from member practices to take part in a one day sponsored bike ride challenge to visit all 40 of our member GP practices (and take a photo outside each one to prove it!).  The challenge is open to all CCG and member practice staff.

We have recently been contacted by NHS Jobs over our wording in job adverts, which means that we can no longer advertise jobs for practices and other non-CCG organisations where candidates are asked to send in a CV. All jobs on NHS Jobs have to be applied for electronically via the NHS Jobs by using the “apply for this job” button.
 
HospitalRides scheme

Please be aware that the Suffolk Council Council’s HospitalRides scheme has now ceased to exist.  This was a car-share scheme aimed at patients/visitors to Ipswich Hospital.  
If you have any posters or leaflets on notice boards in practice, these will need to be taken out of circulation.

Norfolk Drug and Alcohol Partnership (N-DAP) have issued a Health Warning regarding the use of Legal Highs “AMANITA MUSCARIA and BLUE LOTUS”.  N-DAP have received notification of a hospital admission in Norfolk, which appears to be related to the use of the legal highs ‘AMANITA MUSCARIA and BLUE LOTUS’

Step up/step across beds at Bluebird Lodge

8 beds have been made available at Bluebird Lodge for use by Ipswich and East Suffolk GPs as step up beds. If you have patients who you feel might benefit from these beds for reablement as opposed to an admission to hospital please have a look at the admission criteria and how to access the beds. You can find the GP briefing and a Referral Process in respect of a new pilot on the CCG website Pathways and Briefings page.
 
Suffolk Recovery Network - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services

From 1 April 2015, Drug and Alcohol Services in Suffolk are provided by a new provider called Turning Point.  Turning Point provide an integrated Drug and Alcohol Service for Suffolk residents with hubs in Ipswich, Bury and Lowestoft. They provide a menu of psychosocial and pharmacological interventions for Drug and Alcohol Service Users as part of their 'Recovery Academy'.

Integrated Contraception and Sexual Health (iCaSH) service
01 May 2015
As of 1 May 2015, iCaSH (integrated Contraception & Sexual Health) will provide all aspects of sexual health, including contraception, STI testing & treatment and HIV care and treatment in Suffolk. Orwell Clinic on Lindbergh Road in Ipswich will remain the site for this service.  iCaSH will be sending posters directly to your practice (you can download a copy from the above link). 
 
New Phlebotomy Clinic

From the 1 May 2015 if your patients are unable to get their blood taken at your practice, The Pathology Partnership will be providing a blood test service for them at the Riverside Clinic in Ipswich instead of Ipswich Hospital.  
 
Suffolk MASH launches Professional Consultation Line

In 2014 Suffolk County Council and partners established a Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) in Suffolk.
The MASH is a team of professionals from a range of agencies including Social care (children and adults), Police and health brought together to ensure all safeguarding concerns in Suffolk are dealt with in the most effective way. To help professionals make the most informed decisions the Suffolk MASH has created a professional’s advice line.
 
NHSmail Migration

In order to comply with the new GP IT Operating Model 2014-16, the CCG NHSmail Project Team are now in the process of making contact with all Suffolk GP practices. Pilot Autism Diagnosis Service

This is a 6 month Primary Care Pilot Service based within NSFT offering assessment, diagnosis and short-term interventions for people who suspect they have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The service also offer a Carer’s Assessment to carer’s of those who have been diagnosed with ASD. Full details can be found in the briefing note along with a quick referral guide.

Governing Body application deadline 30 Jan

All GPs across Ipswich and East Suffolk are invited to apply to become either a member of the CCG’s Governing Body and/or the Clinical Executive.  Locum doctors are able to apply for a position on the Clinical Executive.  Applications need to be submitted to Simon Jones at the LMC by Friday 30 January 2015.
