Traineeships

What is a Traineeship? 

A Traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for.

At its core are work preparation training, English and Maths for those who need it and a high quality work experience placement.

Traineeships prepare young people for their future careers by helping them to become ‘work ready’.
  • Work preparation training which ensures young people have the skills and confidence needed for an Apprenticeship or other job.
  • Maths and English support to improve young people’s literary and numeracy.
  • Meaningful work experience which provides insight and experience of the world of work.
  • The completion of a nationally recognised qualification that will up-skill their CV.

Benefits

For the organisation

  • No financial cost to the organisation
  • May provide the opportunity to lead onto Apprenticeships
  • Promoting Integrated working with other organisations
  • Breaking down institutional barriers, helping people to understand the different roles and differing ways of working whilst promoting careers within the Health service
  • The organisation is not obligated to offer an apprenticeship or employment to the individual

For the individual

  • Increased awareness of Health & Social Care career pathways.
  • Broadening individual work experience opportunities.
  • Improved employment opportunities
  • Up skilling their Maths, English, ICT and Employability Skills
  • Achieving a First Aid at Work qualification

Other important information

  • The trainees will attend an interview, and will complete a DBS check through the college before placement.
  • All Trainees will sign each organisations Data Protection and confidentiality paperwork before starting their placement.
  • A trainee can be removed from programme at any time if  you feel that you are unable to continue hosting them.
  • The Trainee will work normal hours like a regular employee.
