The idea for the community house came from Ipswich Borough Council and its partners – Suffolk Police, Suffolk County Council and the Police & Crime Commissioner – following issues raised by the community in south-east Ipswich after the murder of teenager Tavis Spencer-Aitkens.
Two community meetings have been held and the partners have taken action already and more is planned. All the partners are committed to working with the community: plans are well advanced to create a community garden; more youth workers are already in the area; the Police are maintaining a strong presence; and the Borough is providing free summer holiday iCards for young people.
